Thimbleweed Park 2

Jul 30, 2026

I have good news and bad news.

First the good news.

The good news is that we just started production on Thimbleweed Park 2, due out in early 2028.

We will self-publish with the help of a private investor.

Mark Ferrari, Gary Winnick, David Fox, Octavi Navarro, Robert Megone, and others from the original team will be back!

Wishlist on Steam!

I’ll be starting up a Thimbleweed Park 2 dev blog like we did for Thimbleweed Park and posting regularly to keep everyone up to date.

Now the bad news

There is no bad news, it’s all good news.

P.S. Thimbleweed Park 1 is on sale on Steam, Switch, iOS and Google. But I suspect all my readers already own it.

P.P.S. Steam doesn’t show it yet, but there will be Mac, Windows and Linux.

P.P.P.S. There will be a GOG version.

P.P.P.P.S. There will be a Switch version.

P.P.P.P.P.S. Steve Kirk is coming back as composer.

Congratulations! I hope it's a big success! Nice to see familiar talent back, too.

druid 1d ago

I can't imagine how you're going to make a sequel considering how the first one ended, but I'm really enthused to find out! I always felt there were hints in the game that the reality of things might not be what we ended up finding out...

Ron Gilbert ✔ 1d ago

"considering how the first one ended" That's half the fun!

Leak 1d ago

WOOOOOO!

Norémon 1d ago

🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

Acmeplus 1d ago

Can’t wait. Loved the first one and just read this. You made my day. And the fact that all you guys are involved. David, Octavo, Mark, Robert, etc. Amazing gift. Now I really have something to look forward to 2028 before November :) since this is not a kickstarter, do you plan to do dev podcasts or something similar? Those were great but I totally get if you don’t have the time.

mazerat 1d ago

They managed to make a third Monkey Island. If anyone can make an improbable sequel, it's Ron Gilbert.

David Fox 1d ago

So excited to be working on this, and with a great team again!

Zak Phoenix McKracken 1d ago

Yeah!! Can't wait to dub it in italian!

Agent Cooper 1d ago

My partner and I can't believe you're gonna make a 2nd one. The first one is her favorite game!

Manjit Bedi 1d ago

Oh, fantastic.

The Ol' Brush 1d ago

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Gus 1d ago

This is not good news, it's awesome news! The only bad thing is: now I can't wait for 2028

Tovi 1d ago

Thank you so much. My wife and myself are totally addicted to old schools quality point and clicks like you guys have done. Keep trusting yourself and do not listen to stupid people telling you how to do what you guys are the best at. So hyped Tovi, french game dev / composer sound designer

Brian Jaworski 1d ago

This \IS\ all good news! Very excited and can't wait for 2028 or anytime this hits the world! Wishing you and all involved the very best. (collector's edition? ;-) )

Gins 1d ago

I didn't expect that at all and I love it.

chris 1d ago

i’m so happy. can’t wait!!

Marco 1d ago

Yeeeeesss! I'm so happy to read this news, thank you all for bringing back Thimbleweed Park. Excited and looking forward to play it!

Mellie 1d ago

This is the best news, I loved Thimbleweed Park like crazy so I literally cannot wait!!

Jose S 1d ago

Amazing news! Thank you!

Mäki 1d ago

The signals are strong tonight, and I like it!

Bert Gilron 1d ago

Yeesssss!!! Looking forward to the blog posts and all. It is not about the destination, it is about the journey. And the humor!

Bryan 1d ago

Curious, why is TP not on sale on GOG?

Bryan 1d ago

Not even sure why I asked that, I do have it already, LOL

Ron Gilbert ✔ 1d ago

\> Curious, why is TP not on sale on GOG? We forgot. Too much to do this morning.

caliebre 1d ago

Te como los huevos Ron Gilbert.

Sean 1d ago

I literally just clocked the first one, this certainly relieves my post Thimbleweed depression!

AleBrush 1d ago

Yeeeeees!!!!

Kiitos!!! 1d ago

Greetings from your Finnish fans & thanks for confirming Linux support

Stan 1d ago

Wouldn't you rather buy a boat?

Stan 1d ago

I can give you a very good price!

Stan 1d ago

I only sell high quality!

Daniel 1d ago

Wonderful! Will the podcast return as well?

Lechuck 1d ago

+1 for the podcast! I really loved the last one!

Manuel 1d ago

Bad news are: it’s not out yet :) Thank you so much for creating all this fun great games!

frisby 1d ago

Do EGA or limited palette - I dare you! :D

Gus Schneider 1d ago

This is great news! Hope you all have fun making the game

frisby 1d ago

Ooh, and fix the thing where the pixel art resolution is different from the lighting resolution... and when sprite scale and pixels shrink.

Delores 1d ago

Bad news are: I have to run the pillow factory... oh, no, wait a minute!

LeChuck Norris 1d ago

I got an absolution certificate for pirating Monkey Island the last time. What are the chances you can absolve people for Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders this time? asking for a friend.

Ron Gilbert ✔ 1d ago

\> absolve people for Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders You have to talk to David Fox about that.

arcanetrivia 1d ago

druid: \> I can't imagine how you're going to make a sequel considering how the first one ended It's not like he hasn't got a fair amount of experience by now in recontextualizing what you \thought\ you saw in an ending...

Ken 1d ago

Are you guys considering Early Access?

Deckard 1d ago

I hope TP2 will have the usual set of noun commands and not like the latest Monkey Island which had a contextual point'n'click parading as old system. But oh boy, I am fondling my TP game box right now. Can't wait! :)

Deckard 1d ago

Meh, I meant VERB commands, of course.

Zak Phoenix McKracken 1d ago

Let's just hope the private investor isn't Ozzie Mandrill, the Australian who wanted to wipe out the Pirates with the ultimate insult.

Gins 1d ago

@Deckard I'd love an adventure game with noun commands!

Diduz 1d ago

Yahoo! Bring it on! I'm ready to be confused again! :-D

Markus 1d ago

I love you guys, thank you for that great announcement!

Elaine Benes 1d ago

Will there be a physical big box edition like with the first one??? Can’t wait!

Jeremy 1d ago

Loved the podcast for #1. Hopefully you will be able to do that again for #2, even if it's not crowd funded this time.

Spav 1d ago

The bad news: you’re writing the ending.

Jimmie 1d ago

So happy to hear this Ron! Thank you for doing this. Looking forward to the dev blog.

Denny 1d ago

Amazing! You made my day. Absolutely loved the first one.

Jake 1d ago

Less than 24 hours since Ron announced the game and people are already complaining.

Tale 1d ago

Hell, yeah!

Torbjörn 1d ago

It's too bad the guilt absolution for Thimbleweed Park only covers past crimes. I understand why, of course, but some day I would like to play the EGA version of The Secret of Monkey Island. The way things currently are, I can't.

MacFrog 1d ago

Will there be translations? And, more importantly, will Boris do the German version?

Evan M 1d ago

Woo-hoo-a-reno!

mdrio 1d ago

Yikes!

Ema 1d ago

That means another Fan Dub. We'll have to put the band back together. We're on a mission from God.

Ahhh123 1d ago

Wow! Great news! I hope you will also make a switch version but I am happy anyway!

Fabiano Caputo 1d ago

To everyone wondering how can a sequel be possibile after the previous game: the Steam page says "Not really a sequel, not really a prequel". Alright Ron, I'm ready to be mindblown.

Darksun1980 1d ago

Congrats! Keep up the great work

Francesco 1d ago

Fantastico!!

SunDancer aka SomeDudeOnYouTube 1d ago

HUZZAH! If there's a crowd funding, count me in!

Bruno 1d ago

thank you! my inner child it's so pretty happy :)

Maskmagog 1d ago

Wow, really looking forward to this game-a-reno! Nice to see the band back together.

Rasho Hyo 1d ago

Welcome BACK Ron Gilbert!!

Barbara 1d ago

We are so back! Such a great news to wake up this morning, let's go :)

Andreadful 1d ago

YES!!!!!

N. 1d ago

This is great news! I'm looking forward to this!

RF1911 1d ago

Oh my god. I truly can't wait.

Lorenzo 1d ago

Mega-galattico!!! GREAT!!!! Thank you Ron! Count me in if you need crown funding!

Steffen 1d ago

Woohooo!!! Gerade jetzt erst gelesen! Bin dabei!

Bethany 1d ago

This is VERY, VERY exciting!

longuist 1d ago

Hows the weather? Really nice btw, in 2028 it doesnt matter.

birenbergg 1d ago

Wow! Amazing news!

Coolchicken 1d ago

Mark Ferrari, Gary Winnick, David Fox, Octavi Navarro, Robert Megone... if you'd mentioned even one more name, I would've had a nervous breakdown. What an incredible team!

Christian 1d ago

Yes!! I just replayed the first one! Awesome game! I hope this time the game ends this time!

George Broussard 1d ago

Ron, awesome! Good luck to you guys along the way. Can't wait.

not Ron Gilbert 1d ago

Thimbleweed Park's ending felt like a nasty rugpull. Clever but disheartening. Please don't do it again!

Helvir 1d ago

Now that's what I call good news :D

Nik 1d ago

The bad news is that I can't give you money right now?! I'm already itching to press that buy button.

Dreadjaws 1d ago

Excited for this, but I really hope you're not going to rehash the same ending idea. You finally cracked it with Return to Monkey Island, no need to iterate on the same idea ever again. Also, am I correct in assuming this is just gonna be like an alternate universe rather than an actual sequel? Kind of like, say, the Three Stooges shorts, where the characters remain the same but the world is different every time?

Ahenobarbus 1d ago

Great news and what a dream team! Good luck guys!

Jonny 1d ago

Great news. I loved the podcast during development. Since this time it's not a crowd funding thing I guess you're neither obliged nor willing to do that again but.... consider it please 😄

El Barto 1d ago

So your "Yes or No?" question on Mastodon was about the possible development of Thimbleweed Park 2. Fortunately, the yes votes won. To celebrate this occasion, I'm wearing my Thimbleweed Park t-shirt.

LasseS 1d ago

Wonderful! Finally some good gaming news. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with. The original is quite possibly the best adventure game of the last 15 years. Hopefully the sequel will have strong puzzle design like the original and RtMI and not too simplified like so many modern adventures.. but I have faith in mr. Gilbert and the team.

Sebos 1d ago

Excellent news! Wishlisted the game on Steam immediately. Is there any chance the game will come to Switch like its predecessor, or maybe it's too early to say?

French Chriss 1d ago

We are BACK!!! \\o/

Hi\_Mike 1d ago

I'd like to join the request: with Thimbleweed Park and Return to Monkey Island, we've already had enough of that kind of ending. We get the idea. Could we have a more... conventional ending this time? Said with the utmost respect and admiration for this ridiculously talented team. I'm just a little too traumatized by meta endings at this point.

Weed Thimbler 1d ago

F. yes!!! Had given up on this. Finally a game I can put on wishlist.

FractalMindMike 1d ago

Hellope. Thank you so much for announcing this news. I'm super excited to see what's happening in Thimbleweed Park in 2028. I also wanted to say - the team collectively have been a huge inspiration for me personally. I really appreciate all that you do! Good luck and all the best with the production over the next year or two!

MementoMoree 1d ago

OMFG OMFG OMFG! More Mark FErrari? More Ganry WInnick? More David Fox, Octavi Navarro, Robert Megone?! MORE RON FREAKING GILBERT! We're so back! ANd yeah NGL the ending of the first left me there, empty and lost. I CANNOT wait for this- which means I will very diligently wait without making a fuss. What about a Physical version? I have the box of the first one and it;s \delicious\! Anyways lots of love, like really a LOT. Keep up the great work and OMFG I love today.

MementoMoree 1d ago

Sorry for the typos, too excited.

Sebastian 1d ago

TP2 AND a dev blog?! Best news ever!

Sam 1d ago

Have you considered also the collector's box as the previous one? Considering to buy

Indiana 1d ago

Do a Kickstarter please. Love to throw my money on you for a Big Box ;)

Max 1d ago

Awesome news! Would this be a good time to add the achievements to the GOG version of Thimbleweed Park 1? I've always hoped it would be possible sooner or later.

Nickvog 1d ago

WONDERFUL news!!!! Is there any chance we get to contribute to this effort with a KICKSTARTER campaign, like the Thimbleweed Park 1??? I'd be awesome to have a physical Collector's Edition on this one too!!!

Yako Batchee 1d ago

I could never ever imagine to see a Thimbleweed Park 2 in this life. You made my day/week/year/decade

Mindbender 1d ago

I really wish there would be a physical version of part 1. Missed it on Limited Run... :(

Mickey Hoz 1d ago

Fantastic news, I loved the first TP and loved RTMI even more. I also loved the TP development podcast so keeping an ear open if that is also returning.

DanVzare 1d ago

Wow, this is a surprise. I thought that the original Thimbleweed Park was going to be a one off. I look forward to seeing how you continue from that ending.

Pouyan 1d ago

can't believe this is really happening, another great work of absurdism and surrealism from The Ron Gilbert. one question though: will steve kirk do the soundtrack again? i loved his work and i still listen to TWP OST.

Fabián Cuesta 1d ago

Vamooooo neeeeeneeeee!

FL77 1d ago

Yeeeeessssss!!! Alla grande!!!

twiz718 1d ago

LeChuck sent me!

Patrik Spacek 1d ago

Finally I can stop praying and just use my power to give you a good health to make it to successful release!

Raúkl 1d ago

Yeaaaaah. Great news’n

Francesco Favia 1d ago

Congratulations Ron! I'm going to wishlist it as soon as I'm home end of August!

ZakMckracken 1d ago

THANK YOUUUUUUUUUU. I CAN NOT WAIT. YOU GUYS ARE THE KINGSSSSSS

lalolana 1d ago

Thank you so much Mr Ron Gilbert. This is the best news I heard in weeks. Thimbleweed Park has a place in my heart ♥️

Paralax 1d ago

Wow, you even brought the comment section back. Just like good old times :D

Zak Phoenix McKracken 1d ago

@ZakMckracken: Hi, nice to meet you.

Andrew S 1d ago

The bad news is that there is no bad news? I'm so confused right now. 😄 Happy to hear about the new game, though! Wishlisted.

Michael 1d ago

Congrats, can not wait! First game is amazing.

Kriss 1d ago

Finally some good gameing news in 2026 :)

NickRivers 1d ago

Yeeeeeeeeeah!!!

Damna 1d ago

This is THE BEST news, not just good news 🤩🤩🤩

Lev 1d ago

Hooray for the GOG version! Thank you!

Ricardo Ratatour 1d ago

What fantastic news!!! Thimbleweed Park is one of my all-time favorite games, so I couldn't be more excited to play this sequel. I really hope Thimbleweed Park 2 stays true to the spirit of classic point-and-click adventures while also daring to innovate with fresh mechanics and surprising gameplay.🙂

KineticEcho 1d ago

No Kickstarter? I dreamed of this sequel, and wished for a new campaign with physical rewards, like the phone book! There will be things like fan written books like the last time?

Rez 1d ago

PRAISE BE TO GILBERT!

Cláudio Fernandes 1d ago

Reading this as i'm almost done reviving my old amiga 500 and will try booting Monkey Island 1 to test it it's just as good as it gets :)

Martin Romanuk 1d ago

Hope you post about the development process, like you did with TWP1. Is the game keeping the same engine? same retro-style?

Trond 1d ago

Amazing news! Looking forward to following your dev blog.

dcb 1d ago

You guys are awesome! My daughter will be the same age I had when I played Monkey Island for the first time. The signals are strong tonight!

Mota de polvo 1d ago

I was waiting for this news for ages!

Gonzalo Q 1d ago

AWSOMEEEEEEEE AIEEEEEEEEEEEE Question: Will be a box/ signed/ special version like you did for the 1st game? COngratulations and THANK YOU

sprud 1d ago

Incredible! From your previous posts I thought that there was no way to have another graphic adventure from you! Big up to the private investors and thank you Ron to keep pushing! Barry Jowey 1d ago

Thanks mate! looking forward to it. Good luck!

Luca 1d ago

Non vedo l'ora!

Conrad Son 1d ago

Awesome news!

MrVenom1974 1d ago

This is absolutely awesome. This is a must-have for me.

Kojiro 1d ago

I guess it time to play Thimbleweed Park again.

marianozz 1d ago

Hey Ron and guys, thanks for everything!

Matt 1d ago

In 2028 we’ll discover Thimbleweed Park 1 was actually a theme park =D

Shinetop 1d ago

This is an incredible news! A massive thank you to Ron Gilbert, for the first game! I absolutely loved it, especially the ending. (Monkey Island 2's ending trained me.....)

Thommek 1d ago

Can't wait for it! I'm really looking forward to the upcoming dev blog. I thoroughly enjoyed your TWP1 dev blog, and I'm excited to follow along with this one as well!

Rapp Scallion 1d ago

Wow, this news is so incredible that I had to double-check it to fully believe it. Is today April Fools’ Day? Jeje. Oh, Ron, you’re full of surprises. First "Return to Monkey Island", now this. After that Thimbleweed Park ending?! Great, great news. 😁

Jose 1d ago

I played all your games—every single one!—and Thimbleweed 1 made me very happy. I’m really looking forward to it. Thanks for all your games, and thanks for continuing to make point-and-click adventures.

Jost L. Hansen 1d ago

I missed out adding lines to the original Thimbleweed Park. Will something similiar be possible in TP2?

Boybrush 1d ago

Big fan of Ron's work here. Everything... besides Thimble 1. Have to be honest: I loved the atmosphere, the story itself.. well, not that much. I hope Thimble 2 will turn the table

Moiz 1d ago

sad you guys didn't go the kickstarter route again. the phone message and box and being part of the game was the best.

Agent Mandarine 1d ago

Podcast! Podcast! Podcast! … pretty please? Been an point-and-click enjoyer since the golden days and really appreciated the dev podcast while waiting for TP. Wozld be awesome… no pressure though!

Ed Williams 1d ago

Great that it will be on GOG! A sale of the first game on GOG would be also nice.

vuvu 1d ago

totally love it

Nevial & Arolyn 1d ago

AHHHH!!! Yesss!! We played TP on the beach in Tahiti on our honeymoon in Dec 2018, so it looks like I know what we’re doing on our 10-year anniversary! (Maybe this time with slightly fewer layovers…)

Tibba 1d ago

Even though I’ve been playing point-and-click graphic adventure games since the very first \Maniac Mansion\, it was this game (\TP1\) that finally convinced me I had to make my own. The fact that they’re making a sequel is great news, but thinking about all the games and developers that Ron and this team have inspired over the years is even more incredible!

Crocodile 1d ago

Fantastic news. Hopefully we can "look at" people this time, I was sad this was missing from the first game. Assuming there are verbs still.

AstroTech\_Guy 1d ago

Omg, can't believe it. I thought, that you were a bit disappointed about the commercial success of the first game, but i'm happy to read, that someone with money believes in you(The game WAS and IS great). Love you, Ron and wish you and your team the very best. Please take your time and don't forget to take pauses :)

VG 1d ago

I believe nobody said 'squeeee' yet, so: SQUEEEEEEEEEEE! Very much looking forward to it. Will our speck of dust collection be importable from the first game, or will we have to start from scratch?

Stinking Pirate 1d ago

Being 46 years old and still having things to look forward to, like I was still a teenager, means more than you know.

CobraCommanda 1d ago

I'm SO EXCITED for this news, Ron! I ordered the original PC big box copy of Thimbleweed (love the extras!), the ThimbleCon poster, and eventually procured a Switch copy of the game (my BF won it for me in a redemption game at the Limited Run physical store--true story!). I've streamed it twice and played through the Dolores DLC as well. Love love love the Thimbleweed world and am beyond excited for a second installment, especially with Mark, Gary, et al. returning. This news brightened my week, so thank you!

ThorKa 1d ago

I Love this ! Is there a way to partcipate in a crowd funding on this ?

MH 1d ago

Great news! - I hope I'm still in the phone book in part 2.

arcanetrivia 1d ago

Also anyone going "How can you pick up after that ending?", despite the use of the number "2", this isn't necessarily going to be a chronological sequel. It could come before, or be some other relationship like just being another story in the same world.

Bruno C. 1d ago

Great, great news! Best of luck! I can't wait to play it!

Kuomodo 1d ago

Thank you, Ron! Looking forward to preordering this.

DrJ 1d ago

Bright news in dark times. So excited!!!

Simon 1d ago

Amazing!! Still holding out hope for more monkey island 🥺

Víctor R. Ruiz 1d ago

Shut up and take my monkey! I mean, money.

Julian D 1d ago

Looking forward to this! The best games I played are definitely LucasArts p&c adventure games and later on Ron Gilbert's games that followed after he left.

Dan 23h ago

Wow, the little kid in me just lit up. Way to make my day!!!

Fragola 23h ago

Hope it will be better than TP1, as that one was disappointing.

Enlo17 23h ago

No freaking way Ron! You just made my day, what am I saying? My year! After quite some setbacks this year nothing was really cheering me up but this news? Man this is great! I have replayed Thimbleweed Park at least 20 times on my Switch and still I'm loving every new round! Thank you for making this possible, hopefully a Switch release is possible as well but for now I hit that wishlist and follow button on Steam so hard it might be broken now. Massively looking forward to this!

Stan S. stanman 23h ago

Its awesome news, another Ron Gilbert piece of art coming! Thank you very much

Barton Lynch 23h ago

As a long time fan of your work and blessed to have my 3 contribution books in the first game, this news come as a sudden rush of joy. I'm happy.

Max 22h ago

I'm more hyped for this than GTA 6.

Alex Hollis 22h ago

Well done sir! Jolly good.

Florian 22h ago

I am excited! Fantastic news! Here's hoping for a big box release eventually.

THATSPLUMS 22h ago

This is awesome news! Thank you Ron! Keep up the great work, will be following closely! Soooooo excited, best news since RtMI was announced!!!

Joe 22h ago

Ahhh yeah! Please tell me you're going to revive the podcast as well. I know it was a lot of work, but it was so great!

Alan 22h ago

So excited!!! Loved the original. It was an almost perfectly put together graphic adventure.

Saj 22h ago

Oh no, did I miss a Kickstarter? Would've loved to have my name in a library book like in part 1.

Herman Toothrot 22h ago

omg Cant wait Thank you you made my childhood love you so much

BeleG 21h ago

So excited to follow the devblog again, and another podcast would be absolute bliss. Would totally join something like a patreon to follow it if that helped!

seguso 21h ago

In hindsight, I feel more nostalgic for TWP than for Return to Monkey Island. I can't even believe it myself, but it's true! So this news really excites me!

Howard Price 21h ago

Yes! I loved your blog and scrumm/podcast. And the game of course!

CartWoman 21h ago

Ahhhhhhhhhh. Cant wait!!! I have to freeze myself ;)

Sushi 21h ago

Yay! (I still have the first game in shrink wrap and signed by David. Perhaps I should open it to celebrate?) Especially heartwarming to see Gary joining in again- I’ve missed listening to him in the TWP dev podcast.

Ron Gilbert ✔ 21h ago

\> Perhaps I should open it No!!

Orrne 21h ago

Sometimes you have to ask, what is the actual piece of art. TWP1 as a game certainly is art. But the process of making the game, the blog with its many insights, many podcast episodes and the community around it is another piece of art. Even as a lurker, seeing all the library titles popping up was really fun. The interaction influenced the game and the audience is part of the game. Thanks! Looking forward to another game in that universe.

Matias of Argentina 20h ago

Amaziiiiiing! Never die Rooooon!

Kolt 20h ago

I love TP and I’m looking forward to TP2. Thanks Ron and all!

Akolade 20h ago

Amazing news, I can’t wait! If feasible, I hope there is a Switch version too!

C.d. 19h ago

Yaaay!!!

Joerg Zdarsky 19h ago

Wow, thats great news! Thank you so much Ron!!! We need your games and your passion, can‘t wait! Wonder if there will also be an „P.P.P.P.P.S. There will be a Playstation version.“ I will buy it for multiple platforms anyway again :-) Thx Ron!!

FGH 18h ago

Great news! Please show us the dev process like last time. I absolutely loved the podcast!

Sam 17h ago

Some good news and very unexpected. Can't wait to see how it develops.

Ron Gilbert ✔ 15h ago

I've had to delete comments from several people who seem to want to rehash the RtMI art style. I chose what I wanted, I'm happy with my decision, it's time to move on.

Ederson 15h ago

Physical Editions please

Enlo17 15h ago

I wish I could get my physical Switch copies of TP signed by Ron. Furthermore as a collector I would love a physical (collectors) edition of part 2 as well!

Miguel Trip Wood 14h ago

Just finished the 1st on Playstation. Such a cool game. So great to know that you'll do a 2nd one (hopefully for the PS as well). Also, thx for all the games. Monkey Island is one of the absolute greats. Loved "Return" quite a lot. Hoping for more! Much love from Brazil.

Not so fearsome pirate 14h ago

Suggesting art styles other than Mark Ferrari's is blasphemy. He's a legend and seeing him attached to this sequel, err prequel, err parallel universe, made me gush.

Not so fearsome pirate 14h ago

Oh, and though composers are hard to pin down, Steve Kirk coming back would be amazing. His work on TP1 was great. Obviously there are 3 other composers we know well in the Ron Gilbert history books that could join on if needed.

Ken 14h ago

Hi Ron, are you guys considering Early Access for TP2?

Deckard 12h ago

I am missing one name. Jenn Sandercock. Is she not part of the team this time?

Deckard 11h ago

As for Monkey Island art style... Only NOW, years later, I realised how greatly it ties with the ending. It's a premonition to the whole point of The Secret. It makes so much sense now. Duh me!

Ron Gilbert ✔ 11h ago

Jenn will be producing.

arvenius 11h ago

omg! im so excited! great news, everyone

Sulik 10h ago

Great news, that's awesome! Will there be a physical Big Box edition for collectors?

Tiksa 10h ago

Great news! Have fun developing the game - i'll have too when i get to play it!

Azrapse 10h ago

If Thimbleweed Park was supposed to be a game that was forgotten in a drawer, from the same era as Maniac Mansion and Zack McKracken, will Thimbleweed Park 2 pretend to be a sequel to the first one, with the technological and visual "jump" that would have been back then between the a game and its sequel? Such as the visible jump there is between Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle, or Monkey Island 1 and Monkey Island 2-3? Or will it keep the exact same visual style and game interface? My point is that I think that there were really really nice improvements made for RtMI in regard to the interaction with objects (2 dynamic actions, contextual and unique to each object, instead of a fix list of verbs), and the integrated hint system, that would be nice to have back for TP2. I guess it's silly to ask these questions now, since those are things you want to still discuss with your team. Man, I would love to be a fly on the wall during those discussions, like the podcast made me feel a bit back in TP1!

What fantastic news! Thank you so much. Now I'm going to sip my coffee from my Thimbleweed Park mug and plan to play the game again :-) I hope the promotional tour in Berlin will become a regular part of the schedule again. I still have such fond memories of it!! Greetings from Germany Björn

Big whoop… Jokes aside, I think we’re in for quite the game-a-Reno. Rock on Ron 🤘 Voodoo expert 9h ago

This is absolutely amazing! Thimbleweed Park has turned into my comfort game. I’ve played through it maybe 20 times by now and it’s still amazing!

VitaCon 9h ago

\> Azrapse: I would definitely welcome some innovations but I suspect many people would prefer all-school verbs and large pixels so it will be a difficult decision for Ron & co.

(Is this is a comment section or a chat - speak of chat... will there be an official one?) This is like a big family coming back together. Thanks for giving us another present to the world! Already wishlisted it, now (im)patiently waiting for 2028 to come but also looking forward to the blog. Don't make yourself sick about it and keep yourself in good health, everybody (the ones who create and the ones who wait). Also: Hi Zak + Others, whom I have met in Munich at the Thimbleweed Park meeting back in ... oh my, long ago! (Speaking of meeting - will something like that happen again? sign me up if so!)

Lukas 8h ago

I'm excited! Will it be in glorious 3D!????

Michael Fessenden 8h ago

This is fantastic news! I’m so happy to see you making more games… your LucasArts games were a huge influence on me as a teenager. Day one purchase for me.

Azrapse 8h ago

\> VitaCon: I like pixel art too. But even during pixel art era, there were innovations in the interface from one game to the next. Remember Loom! Remember Sam & Max ditching the verbs and dialogs (I actually don't think it was a good thing to ditch the dialog lines, beacuse of the reasons Ron has given several times: You lose the chance to tell 3 jokes at a time) Also, there were like 15 or so verbs or so in MM and ZMcK. They reduced them to 12, then 9, then 3 during Full Throttle / MI3, that became kinda contextual (Mouth could be both Talk to or Eat, for example, depending on the target). The evolution to RtMI dynamic, purely contextual actions is so natural. Rather than the verb list being disjointed from the object, the object offers a verb list, and the list doesn't need to be the of same verbs, but whatever expression tells the best joke. That was genius. To turn the verb interface into the dialog interface, basically. But I will be happy with whatever they come up with!

DIGGIN'!

Great news, thank you!!!

Cannot tell you how happy and amazed I am by this news, such a perfect team too. Fingers crossed for the return of the development podcast, I used to listen to that thing religiously.

VitaCon 7h ago

\> Azrapse: I like pixel art too but at the same it feels a bit "too retro" so I fully understood that Ron wanted to try something else in RtMI. Unfortunately, I did not like the final result too much as I felt the characters were "too stylized". I had similar feeling regarding the interface of RtMI. It worked nicely and is definitely possible to reduce the number of verbs to just two but it feels a bit "too reduced" for me. I liked the interface of Delores Mini-adventure because it allowed more actions per item and it could be useful in some situations. However, I have to agree with "But I will be happy with whatever they come up with!" =)

Bashar 5h ago

Wooow Didn’t see that one coming. Super excited. And great to have the A team back together Curious how the story will continue, but seeing how you guys handled RTMI im confident it will be great Bashar 5h ago

First game was before this AI era and called it. Bet the new game will be fully fueled against it

Guybrush2033 4h ago

Hey everyone! I'm writing to you straight from 2033, and I've got a massive scoop: the new Monkey Island is back in pixel art! Yep, you read that right. No 3D, no fake realism—just pirates, grog, and polygons that look like they crawled straight out of a '90s fever dream. It's gorgeous, it's hilarious, it's completely bonkers. And Guybrush Threepwood has never looked so delightfully chunky-pixeled. Trust me, the future is blocky, and it's glorious!

Phil\_Fr 4h ago

What a nice surprise ! Thanks, first for the game itself... 💙 And also for the coming months probably filled with previews, insights, good vibes build-up 💙

DM81 4h ago

Yes…YES! Huge, wonderful news! I loved TP, expecially the ending. Can’t wait for this. Thanks Ron!

Sebastian 4h ago

Wonderful news-a-reno!😄 Can't wait-a-reno. THANK YOU!

Brian G 4h ago

Amazing. Been waiting for this one and had kind of given up hope. It's like when you send away for the cereal box prize and it shows up in the mail years later.

Oliver 4h ago

Reminder to myself: replay TP 1 and RtMI again! Reminder 2 to myself: do this before 2028 :)

hel1x 4h ago

Cheeseness 3h ago

Congrats, Ron! Rooting for you and your team - can't wait to return to Thimbleweed Park!

H.T.M 2h ago

Thank You

LowLevel 2h ago

I'm so happy about this! Not just because of the game, but because I really enjoyed following TWP1's development and chatting with the community on the forums about it. I'm really looking forward to a similar experience. Thanks, Ron, for the (almost) unexpected gift!
