Show new teammates how it’s actually done.

A local-first macOS screen recorder you own. Privacy is enforced at capture time — password managers, banking, and sensitive apps are blocked or masked before anything is written to disk. Your recordings stay on your machine; nothing leaves it unless you choose to share.

01 — HOW IT WORKS

Record once. Everyone learns.

1 · RECORD

One task, or the whole day

Press ⌘⇧R and work as you normally would, narrating if it helps. Password managers and banking are cut before a frame is written; email and chat are masked as they record.

2 · THE AGENT SPLITS IT

Footage becomes tasks

An on-device model segments the footage into labeled tasks — payroll run, expense approvals — and indexes every spoken word and on-screen moment, so any workflow can be found by search months later.

3 · SHARE

You choose what leaves

Share a single task, or assemble recordings into an ordered onboarding collection. Every copy is scrubbed of names, secrets, and PII before it leaves, and you send only what you choose.

02 — PRIVACY

Exact, not vague.

A screen recorder handles sensitive material by definition. Rather than broad assurances, here is precisely what happens to your recordings.

where recordings live\~/.screencap on this Mac. Nowhere else, unless you choose a cloud plan.

what leaves when you shareOne scrubbed file, with names, secrets, and PII already redacted — and only the recordings you choose to send.

what we can watchNothing you keep local — we can't see what we never receive. The code that enforces all of this is public.

03 — MCP CONTEXT

Recordings that know what they’re about.

While you record, Screencap queries your connected MCP servers for what’s on screen — the payroll run, the CRM record, the ticket — and keeps that snapshot inside the recording, on your machine. Viewers can open the current live record directly from the video.

04 — THE OPEN DATASET

Real work, donated on purpose.

Open computer-use models are trained largely on synthetic interactions and scraped screen captures. Donated Screencap recordings provide what those can’t: real workflows, contributed deliberately. Each donation is reviewed frame-by-frame by its owner and scrubbed of names, faces, and sensitive data before joining the public dataset. Contribution is off by default and always per-recording.

05 — SOURCE AVAILABLE

Every line is public.

The entire application is on GitHub — capture engine, encryption, agent, anonymizer. For software with this level of access, claims should be verifiable in the source, not taken on trust. Read it, audit it, build it yourself.
