End-to-end in CI, Bun today compiles ~3.4x faster than before the Rust rewrite. This is end-to-end, including C++ compilation, switching full LTO -> thin LTO, and cross-compilation on Linux.

Out of curiosity - are you doing any PGO/AutoFDO/Propeller for optimisation? also Mold for the linker?

Jarred Sumner @jarredsumner author
We are doing a small version of PGO - run a few commands collect what symbols ran when & serialize to an order file, but not all the hot/cold stuff that eats build time. Then for canary builds it uses an order file stale by 1 build, and for release it newly regenerates

I’m building web server, and fucking PGO takes so much time on iterations, but it improves performance. Btw I choose the name for my web server: Webship. It is fastest web server out there. Commercial license.
