Damn - really hope @netcup does not get the same attention compared to @Hetzner_Online
Can not handle hetznerlike price increases on Netcup 😅

Catalin @catalinmpit author
😆😆

Twilight Surfers @TwilightSurfers
I love Digital Ocean. In all honesty they are a little high cost.

Catalin @catalinmpit author
Yeah, my site https://catalins.tech on DO costs $21/monthly, but I never had issues with it.

David Nix @david_nix
Vercel? WTF

Catalin @catalinmpit author
😂😂😂😂

Navlio @Navlio
ten alternatives on that list and none of them is "run less". a bill that walks from €5 to €34 usually got there through things nobody turned off, and those move to netcup with you

Andreas @AndreasPandrea5
Netcup all good for me. 0 price increases over.. 10 years.
Contabo started with better pricing but they went at least 20% the Hetzner route wrt pricing, also they have shit service and delete negative reviews about their shit service. (Cooling broke, several days outage.)

Contabo is fairly cheap, but their performance is abysmal. Had to cancel a machine with 4 cores and 8GB of RAM, because I couldn’t get any work done 🫠 Netcup is definitely the winner here 🙏🏻

Mr. Positive @slim_carrot_
Netcup has been amazing 🤩

Reddas @topclanker
Self hosting is a pain in the ass. Home network doesn't have a good uptime and your ip is constantly rotating.

murloc.eth @0x_murloc
Selfhosting is always the king

Mubashir @itsmebashy
@Cloudflare all the way

julymaria @clockvibes

Morthen Jensen @MorthenMSJensen
I think you also have to look at the up time.
A lot of solutions have a lot of down time, compared to Hetzner.
And 35€ is fairly cheap in today's market.
But I look forward hearing if you find something better. Then please let me know.
I am very satisfied with @Hetzner

honerop @honerop7
Contabo has very cheap VPS, but the dashboard and login system feel ancient

Kaan @kaanyagci
What's the difference between self-hosting and a dedicated server?
Also, IONOS? Seriously?

Andrei Onel 🫎 @AndreiOnel
I feel like cloudflare is not really in the same are group as hetzner and netcup, right?

harold @haz0a
Vercel.. aws...
Surprised Google cloud didn't get mention too 🤣😭

(identity '[:pankaj :λ]) @pankajdoharey
Have you tried Oracles VPS , They give away one free forever. Also, Kontabo is really good. I have tried it. It's a bit bit slow for the lower-end machines, but can quickly catch up. It's better than Hetzner!

Claudia @claudiamiclea
Ovh is good

Matti Vilola @mvilola
Thanks for making the list. Useful, i am hosting in hetzner, gcs and clourflare but will most probably try netcup or ovh next as I need EU servers

ma2sakura @ma2_sakura
I have used Kimsufi dedicated server for years. The one I have currently is so insanely cheap for the spec. Sure, the hardware is old, maybe it's not the fastest available. Maybe it will just stop working at any point
But raw resource to value ratio is incredible. Would cost me

Josef Strzibny @strzibnyj
I use mostly Digital Ocean for my self-hosting

Wolfe Folks @WolfeFolks
Cloudflare is rooting against you

Roy @__roycohen
Local hardware makes no sense honestly compared to some deals rn.. You're paying for a worse deal, and potential damage.

𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗞𝗼𝘃𝗲 @michael_kove
OVH is probably the "cheaper" option depending where you get VPS.
I think we got to admit that a decent EU-based VPS will be north of 25 EUR

Gaurav Bhatia @heygauravbhatia
Go with contabo + coolify u wont regret it

Miguel ☕ @mikee_palacios
I would add Vultr starting from general-purpose machines.

Janaka Abeywardhana @janaka_a
I wish Netcup had IaC support.

mewc @the_mewc
How about binarylane
Like $2 vps

Péter Szarvas @peterszarvas94
railway? it's kind of a vps

Lance Lot @lance_lotsome
People are sleeping on Oracle Cloud

mike @Mike__eBee
A lot of these arent comparable products though? :D

Peter Mick @ThePeterMick
+1 Vultr :-P

FERRON @ferron_web
OVH 😅

Gregor @bygregorr
cloudflare at is a different category than the rest tbh. is it just me or were those 21 mentions more about workers/pages than actually replacing a VPS?

Samantha @SeoSamantha
Hi Catalin, just following up here as I sent you a DM regarding a potential Bloomberg interview. Would be great to connect if you’re open to a quick chat.

fiona @engineerfiona
Who tf thinks „hey my hosting is too expensive let’s switch to aws“ lmfao

OrthodoxCoder☦️ @codewithstefan
AWS, Vercel, Digital Ocean??? they want your 500% to go to 1000% 😂

Awais alwaisy @alvaisy

Jarno @onefinalprompt
Self-hosting topping the list says a lot about pricing patience.

The DevOps Guy @justdevopsguy
big fan of cloudflare here but it is not a great replacement for an actual vm. hence +1 for digitalocean here

Léo Ferrari @leoferrari2204
Vercel = rauch, the blonde girl and two more Black bg profile pic guys

Joris Mak bsky: @jorismak.nl @MakJoris
I always think that if what you run on your server could run on Cloudflare, you would be doing it already. So it rules out Vercel or Cloudflare or maybe some of the others that just don't offer a customizable server to control.
What's the difference between 1 and 7?

Nesters Kovalkovs @nestersk
I put my cockpit on OVH now that new instances on Hetzner are so expensive.
I had never heard of Netcup until recently, but they're pricing looks good.
I'll probably look into them to figure out, if I can move stuff back to Europe.

Try the aggregators at the bottom of here:

Contabo's uptime is not good. I moved away from it to Railway.
