A completed check identifies what was consulted, what was visible on that date and which company identifier was used. Access failures stay visible instead of becoming a clean result.
Self-service reports use a licensed Chinese business-information platform. Its records originate from 国家企业信用信息公示系统 (company registry), 中国裁判文书网 (court judgments) and 中国执行信息公开网 (enforcement records). Some capable factories are
hard to find overseas.A factory may have production capability without an English-speaking sales team, overseas marketing or export credentials in its own name. In those cases, an intermediary may handle the export. That possibility is a reason to verify the legal and payment chain. It does not prove that any particular seller is a factory.

Menu check, 10 September 2026: each of the 153 checks in the saved 22 August menu had a source set. This says where a request would go. It does not show that data came back or that a buyer got a report. The old 134/153 figure could not be checked and has been withdrawn.
Whatever question you start from, the answer traces back to one of these. Every figure is dated, because registrations and source availability keep moving. If we have not measured something, the page says so.
A seller advertising as a "factory" may be a trading company. It may sit several layers away from the workshop that actually makes your product. An honest trade partner adds real value: English communication, consolidation, quality checks, logistics. The problem is not the middleman. The problem is not knowing who you are actually buying from.
Currawong starts with the buyer’s question. Screen the wording you have. Use a commercial data source only when the page shows it is available, or arrange a scoped human public-record check. A showcase is a directory of factory profiles. Ours is not open and has no launch date. We do not yet have the factory relationships it would need. If it opens, each profile will separate facts from claims, name sources and dates, and show known gaps. No profile is a guarantee of outcome.

41 of 45 selected codes returned a customs credit record
On 22 August 2026 we queried a commercial platform for 45 selected company codes. These came from single-candidate name matches in our NHTSA vehicle-manufacturer study; a name match alone does not prove identity.

The query returned no import-export credit entry for four of these 45 selected codes. A missing entry does not prove no official record exists. It does not identify an exporter or show that any product reached the United States.
The names were selected from NHTSA manufacturer filings and resolved to one provider result each. A filing does not prove US sales, and one result does not confirm the entity match. This selected group cannot estimate how many factories are missing from export markets. The 45 are the same 45 companies I use throughout this site, read along different dimensions. The batch is described in the NHTSA manufacturer study.

Three things buyers ask before they order
Do you query the official Chinese portals yourself?
Self-service lookups use a licensed Chinese business-information platform, when that source is available. Its records originate from the National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System, China Judgements Online and the China Enforcement Information Disclosure Network. The L3 service adds a manual official-source recheck by arrangement. We do not automate queries to those portals. Commercial records may lag; findings carry the retrieval date.
What can I check for free before ordering a report?
Start free by finding candidate company names, checking an 18-character code or reading the business-scope wording. When the source is available, the full check page can also retrieve a company-record snapshot. Choose a paid report for more records, with a named source, query date and explanation for each check. A format check or name-search match alone does not confirm registration.
Will you tell me whether to buy from this supplier?
We help you make that decision with clear, dated evidence. Your report opens with an identity check and a summary of records returned and gaps.
