How Metriqcon works

Every unit in a category is stored against one base unit — meters for length, kilograms for weight, liters for volume. To convert, Metriqcon multiplies your value into the base unit and then divides by the target unit's factor, so any unit converts to any other in a single exact step. Factors use official definitions: 1 inch is exactly 2.54 cm, 1 pound is exactly 0.45359237 kg, and 1 US gallon is exactly 3.785411784 liters.

Temperature is the exception, because the scales don't share a zero point. Here we use offset formulas: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32, K = °C + 273.15, and °R = °F + 459.67.
