What better way to celebrate than to try Squeak and explore it for yourself? Have you tried the new release yet? If not, you can download Squeak 6.1 from the downloads page (here). Don’t want to download it just yet? Try Squeak 6.1 from your browser (here)! Check out the Squeak 6.1 release notes for details on what has changed since version 6.0 (here), or better yet, explore the changes interactively in your browser (here)! Many thanks to Christoph Thiede for providing such wonderful details and access to the changes made!
Explore the system. Browse the code. Change something and see what happens. Build something of your own. Whether you are a long-time Squeaker or have never tried Smalltalk before, there is always something new to discover.
If you find something interesting, share it with us. Ask a question, join a discussion, help someone else, contribute a change, or simply tell us how you use Squeak. The Squeak community has always grown through people exploring, experimenting, and sharing their discoveries.
Here’s to another year of discovery, collaboration, and fun with Smalltalk and Squeaking!
