FAQ
Keyword monitoring questions, answered.
Can I monitor my brand and competitors?
Yes. Add your brand name, a product name, a competitor, or another phrase as a keyword. Social Snitch looks for matching mentions across your selected sources and collects them in one inbox. You can use the results to find product questions, feedback, and relevant conversations.
Which platforms does Social Snitch monitor?
Supported sources include Hacker News, Reddit, X (Twitter), Bluesky, GitHub issues and pull requests, Stack Overflow, Lobsters, dev.to, Mastodon, Product Hunt launches, and Google News. Choose platforms separately for each keyword. Coverage and available history vary by source; some platforms depend on the service configuration.
Can I track Reddit posts and Hacker News comments?
Yes. Reddit monitoring searches post titles and text, not Reddit comments. Hacker News monitoring covers stories and comments. Matches must contain your keyword or phrase, regardless of capitalization, and results depend on what each source makes available.
Can I monitor keywords in RSS feeds?
Yes. Add up to 3 custom RSS or Atom feeds on the free plan. Social Snitch checks feed item titles and summaries for your keywords, so you can monitor blogs and publications alongside the supported platforms. Available history depends on the items included in each feed.
How fast are alerts?
The free plan schedules checks roughly every 15 minutes. Source delays and busy periods can make alerts take longer. Instant alerts send after we find a match; the daily email digest starts at 9:00 in your workspace's timezone and may arrive later during busy periods.
Do I need Discord?
No — the in-app inbox and email work on their own. Discord is there because that's where builder teams live; SnitchBot posts into any channel you give it.
What does free actually include?
3 keywords, 3 custom feeds, 11 supported platforms, the in-app inbox, and email, Discord, Slack, Telegram, and signed webhook alerts. Choose instant email or a daily digest. New keywords scan recent history, subject to each source’s limits, and mentions are kept for 30 days. No credit card required.
Can I send alerts to Slack?
Yes. Open Channels in your dashboard, select Add to Slack, and choose the workspace and channel for your alerts. Your Slack workspace may require administrator approval. Slack is available on the free plan, alongside Discord, Telegram, email, and signed webhooks.
