    • Prop your phone against something on your desk, and it becomes a painting — a sumi-e landscape, quietly alive. The waterfall falls. Mist drifts between the pines. Evening comes on slowly. On the train. Between two meetings. In the five minutes before sleep. Open it and a quiet mountain is there. Nothing to do. Nothing to finish. Just the sound of water, and the mist. This is not a video in a browser. No ads, no playlist, no chrome around the edges — ink from one edge of the screen to the other. Touch the water and it answers under your fingertip. Set the sleep timer and the painting falls asleep with you. There is nothing here that asks anything of you. No streaks. No lessons. No notifications. Just a painting of the kind that has been settling people's minds for five hundred years. A framed print costs forty dollars, and it never moves. Sumi is $5.99, once. No ads. No tracking. No subscription. Buy it once and it is yours — including every painting added later. — FIVE PAINTINGS Falling Water · Rain at the Pavilion · Moonlit Bamboo · Fuji over the Waves · Koi in the Stream The first is free. The rest unlock together, once. DAY, DUSK, NIGHT Each painting shifts with the hour, or stays where you put it. SOUND, SYNTHESIZED Water, rain, wind and waves are generated on your device — not recordings. Turn it off entirely if you prefer the silence. SLEEP TIMER The painting dims and the sound fades. Nothing wakes you. NOTHING COLLECTED No accounts, no ads, no tracking, no analytics, no third-party SDKs. Your settings stay on this device.

    • What’s New

  • In the gallery, the paintings you haven't unlocked now move for a few seconds when they come to the center. A short, silent look at each one alive, then it rests again. No ads. No accounts. No tracking. Just ink. Thank you for watching the ink move.

  • Sumi now speaks your language. The whole app — the labels on each painting, the settings, everything — is translated into eight languages. No ads. No accounts. No tracking. Just ink. Thank you for watching the ink move.

    • 1.1 Sep 24

  • If you opened Sumi while offline, purchases and Restore could stay unavailable even after you were back online, until you restarted the app. They now recover on their own. The gallery now shows which painting you're on, and you can reach Unlock the Gallery from Settings too. No ads. No accounts. No tracking. Just ink. Thank you for watching the ink move. If Sumi brings you a quiet moment, a review helps others find it.

  • Restoring purchases: cancelling the sign-in no longer shows an error. Small refinements under the hood. No ads. No accounts. No tracking. Just ink. Thank you for watching the ink move. If Sumi brings you a quiet moment, a review helps others find it.
