    One seamless universe

Every image on this page was captured in the game's own renderer, the same one that runs in your browser tab. Select any of them to see it full size.

A Solari Halberd gunship fires a laser and missiles into the honeycomb shield of a Hollow Crown Carrion raider, while a Colossus flagship's beams strike a pirate Ironclad and a raider explodes overhead

In-game: a Halberd on the attack

    Combat

    Fly the fight yourself

Small ships are flown directly: aim with the mouse, strafe on six-axis thrusters, boost and drift. Big hulls command turret batteries that track the targets you call. Shields, armor and hull break in that order, and every kill is loud.

  • Hollow Crown raids, strongholds and world bosses
  • Missiles, countermeasures and point defense
  • PvP by choice in Contested and Lawless space
  • A Monolith ship of the line with blazing blue engines inside a warp tunnel of streaking white and violet light

    In-game: a Monolith mid-warp

    Travel

    Warp across 750 star systems

Align, spool and punch through the dark between worlds. Warp to planets, stations, belts and anomalies, then jump gate to the next system: one seamless universe with no loading screens between planets.

  • Secure, Contested and Lawless space
  • Cruise, warp and jump gates
  • Deterministic galaxy shared by every pilot
  • A Peregrine hauler wrapped in orange re-entry plasma high above a curving blue ocean, a red nebula in the black sky overhead

    In-game: atmospheric entry

    Planets

    Land anywhere

Drop out of orbit, ride the plasma of atmospheric entry and fly low over oceans, forests, ice and lava. Set down at a spaceport, or anywhere flat enough, and harvest what the surface offers.

  • Seamless orbit-to-ground flight
  • Terran, ocean, jungle, desert, ice, lava and gas worlds
  • Surface harvesting and planetary outposts
  • Inside a colony's hexagonal shield dome at night: towers lit window by window around a central spire, the dome's glass cells overhead

    In-game: a colony at night

    Colonies

Build a world of your own

Found a colony on a planetary plateau and grow it from an outpost into a domed city. Plan districts, research technologies, terraform the planet over days and defend what you built from raiders.

  • Colonization skill and city planner
  • Terraforming projects that change the world
  • Colonies keep working while you are offline
  • A white and red Herald doctrine ship on its cradle in a floodlit station hangar, seen from the crane cab, yellow service arms around it

    In-game: Hangar 07

    Ships

36 hulls, from skirmisher to behemoth

Start in a nimble skirmisher and work up to gunships, heavy warships, fighter tenders, flagships and behemoths. Fit every slot, paint your livery and look her over in the hangar before every sortie.

  • Fitting with modules you build or buy
  • Faction, clan and earned liveries
  • Mining, hauling, exploration and repair hulls
  • A Monolith ship of the line departs the ring of an Accord trade hub, a Halberd in the traffic lane, in front of an orange nebula

    In-game: leaving a trade hub

    Economy

    A real player economy

Every ship and module is made from ore someone mined. Trade on each station's order book, post contracts, refine and manufacture, found a clan and go to war over territory.

  • Buy and sell orders, escrow and contracts
  • Mining, refining and industry
  • Clans, treasuries, wars and territory beacons
  • A yellow and black Halberd gunship at full burn with a regalia pennant and golden motes, an orange nebula behind

    In-game: regalia on a Halberd

    Law and lawlessness

Secure space is patrolled by Accord Marshals. Contested space pays better and bites back. In Lawless space clans plant territory beacons, the richest ore sits in the belts, and the Hollow Crown raids anyone who looks rich enough.

FAQ

Questions, answered

What is XETODUS?

XETODUS is a free-to-play 3D space MMO (massively multiplayer online game) that runs in your web browser on desktop and mobile, with no download. Pilots fly their own ships across 750 star systems, fight pirates and each other, mine, craft and trade in a player-run economy, land on planets and build colonies, all in one persistent online universe.

Who makes XETODUS, and when did it launch?

XETODUS is published and operated by Legend Games LLC. It launched on September 24, 2026 and grows with regular updates, posted on the News page.

Is XETODUS free to play?

Yes. Every combat, mining and trade ship, every module, star system and core skill is open to every pilot for free. The optional Vanguard Charter ($4.99 a month) adds convenience, cosmetics and members' content (more pilot slots, market and contract slots, liveries, a monthly Aether stipend, 6 Vanguard skills with members' areas and 4 Vanguard hulls for them, bought with in-game credits) and never sells power.

Do I need to download anything?

No. XETODUS runs in a modern web browser with WebGL 2. Open xetodus.com, create an account and fly. You can also install it as an app from Chrome, Edge or Safari for a full-screen window and a home-screen icon.

Which devices and browsers work?

Current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS, plus Android and iPhone/iPad with on-screen touch controls. Graphics presets from Low to Cinematic adapt to your GPU automatically.

What are the system requirements?

Minimum: a browser with WebGL 2 (a recent Chrome, Edge or Firefox, or Safari 16.4+), 4 CPU threads, 8 GB RAM and Intel Iris Xe, Radeon Vega 8 or GeForce GTX 1050 class graphics for the Low preset. Recommended: 8 CPU threads, 16 GB RAM and a GeForce RTX 3060, Radeon RX 6600 or Apple M2 Pro class GPU for the High preset. Cinematic wants an RTX 4080 SUPER to RTX 5090 or RX 7900 XTX class card. WebGL 2 is all you need: on Auto the game also tries WebGPU where your browser supports it and keeps it only if it runs at least as fast on your device.

Is it a single-player game?

No. XETODUS is a persistent online universe: every pilot you meet is another player or a faction NPC, and the market, clans and territory are shared by everyone on the server.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. Phones and tablets get touch flight controls and lighter graphics presets. You need iOS or iPadOS 16.4 or newer, or Android 7.0 or newer with an up-to-date Chrome. A landscape screen and a recent device (Snapdragon 855 or newer, or any Apple chip) give the best experience.

What is the Vanguard Charter?

An optional membership at $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year (where the yearly plan is offered), billed by Stripe. It adds two pilot slots, more market orders and contracts, Vanguard liveries, a badge and cloud-saved settings, plus 6 members' skills: Captaincy (hired Retainer warships that fly with you), Flotilla (hired mining crews), Reclamation (salvage tugs that sail into the Deep Drift while you're offline), Xenobiology (alien crops in station Greenhouse Bays), Extracting (drill rigs on moon deposits found with Seismic Beacons) and Cartography (charting the cluster and tracing each system's Deep Signal). Cancel any time; perks last to the end of the paid period.

Do the Vanguard skills give members an edge?

No. Each Vanguard skill has its own hiscore board, but none counts toward total level, pilot level, the Overall ranking or achievements, and their bonuses apply only inside their own activity. They cost credits to run, are capped per account each day and earn far less per hour than flying yourself. If the Charter ends you keep every XP point and item.

Can I buy credits, ships or items with real money?

No. Credits, ships and modules can only be earned in play. Aether, the account-bound premium currency, buys cosmetic liveries and Charter time and can also be earned in game. It has no cash value and cannot become credits or items.

Is there a reward for bringing friends?

Yes. Recruit a Wingmate gives every pilot a personal invite link (open the Recruit window in game). When a friend signs up through it and becomes an active pilot, you earn the Wingmate Chevron livery and Aether, and they get a welcome pack. Further milestones add a pilot-card frame, more Aether, Vanguard Charter time and a ladder of exclusive squadron paint, titles and an engine glow. Rewards are cosmetic or account-bound, never power, a sign-up alone earns nothing, and we review referrals for fair play.

Is there a community I can join?

Yes. The official XETODUS Discord (discord.gg/fudWXK8v3b) is where pilots find wingmates and clans, share screenshots, ask questions and talk with the team. In game, the Send feedback button in Settings (or F8) sends a bug report, idea or balance note straight to the developers, with an optional screenshot.

Are the screenshots on this page real?

Yes. Every image on this page was rendered by the game itself, in the same renderer that runs in your browser tab, at the Cinematic graphics preset. A few battle and fleet scenes were staged in the game's own developer ship viewer: the ships were placed by hand, then fired their real weapons with the game's own effects. None of it is concept art, a pre-rendered trailer or AI imagery.

Still have a question? The Game Guide covers the game chapter by chapter, and other pilots and the team answer on our Discord.
