Learn by Solving

Work every problem yourself on an interactive board. Each step is a move you choose, every line is checked, and graphs are drawn by hand.

2x + 3 = 7Subtract 3 from both sides2x = 4Divide both sides by 2x = 2

Solving is a game of legal moves. You pick the move; every line follows from the one before it.

Every way to learn

Read, listen, test yourself, ask the AI about your own steps, or look up anything you've already covered. Every lesson meets you where you are.

An equation is a claim: the two sides name the same number. The equals sign asserts sameness, it gives no orders.

A solution is a value of the unknown that makes the claim true. Substitute it and both sides agree.

Solving means changing the form without changing the claim: the same move applied to both sides keeps the balance.

Frequently asked questions

Can I teach myself math?

Yes, and math suits self-teaching better than most subjects: every step you take is either valid or it is not, so you never need someone's opinion on whether you were right. What self-teaching usually lacks is the correction arriving in time - before you build ten more lines on top of a wrong one. That is what the board here does: it checks each line as you write it.

What is the best way to learn math?

By solving, in small steps, with mistakes caught immediately. Watching a worked example is a different skill from producing one, which is why so many people understand the lesson and then fail the test. Work each problem yourself, one move at a time, and let something check the move before you go on.

How do I get better at math?

Practise the step you get wrong, not the whole topic again. Most people who feel stuck are not missing the big idea - they drop a sign, lose a denominator, or forget to flip the inequality when multiplying by a negative. Because every move here is checked as you make it, the exact step you fumble becomes visible, and that is the one worth repeating.

Are Coddy's math lessons free?

Yes. Every math lesson runs in your browser, free, with nothing to install. Coddy sells a premium plan for its coding tracks; math does not require it.

What will I learn in Coddy's math space?

It begins with solving equations one move at a time and builds up through fractions and parentheses, inequalities, absolute value, systems of equations, graphs on the plane and the number line, quadratics and the quadratic formula, exponentials, logarithms and trigonometry. More courses are added to the space over time.

How should I study math so it sticks?

Short sessions, most days, each ending on a problem you finished yourself. Re-reading notes creates a feeling of familiarity that disappears under exam conditions; retrieving a method from memory is what makes it stay. Three problems worked by hand beat an hour of watching someone else do thirty.
