Order wine like you wrote the list.

Point your camera at the list. Pourly reads every bottle on it, knows your palate, and names the one — with the reason why. You order it like it was obvious. The table is impressed. Your secret's safe with us.

You're on the beta list

Excellent choice. We say that to everyone.

— your invite will arrive when it's ready. Like a good Barolo.

Pourly's recommendation from a restaurant wine list: the safe great choice, Sancerre “Chavignol” by Gérard Boulay, 2022, €62, fit 92, with tasting notes, why it suits you, a Why this fits you link and an Order this one button; below it, the interesting one, Chardonnay Reserve by Weingut Knewitz, fit 80.

How it works

Three steps. The hardest one is holding the phone straight.

01

Scan the list

Camera, photos, or the PDF the restaurant proudly emailed you. Dim rooms, long lists, German-French hybrids — all readable. Unlike the handwriting.

02

Get one answer

Not forty-seven scores to agonize over. One confident pick for your palate, the meal, and tonight's budget — plus the reason, in words you'd actually say.

03

Rate it. It learns.

Thirty seconds the next morning — we know, big ask. Your profile sharpens with every bottle, and every lesson comes with an undo.

The tour

From dim-lit menu to "we'll have the Sancerre."

01 · It reads

Three pages. Two languages. One candle for lighting. Handled.

Pourly's no-fit screen: nothing under €40 on this wine list fits your profile. It explains why and offers the closest honest pick, Côtes du Rhône “Terre d'Argile” by Domaine de la Janasse, 2021, €48 — €8 over budget.

02 · It's honest

If the list is bad, we say so. Radical, we know.

The screen you hold up for the server: “We'll have the Sancerre ‘Chavignol’”, Gérard Boulay, 2022, bin 14, €62, in type big enough to read across the table.

03 · You order

Hold up the phone. The bottle’s name does the talking.

After rating the Sancerre, Pourly shows what it learned: Loire affinity up slightly, oak tolerance in whites unchanged, and the new dot on your whites map beside the stated and learned ones, with an undo.

04 · It learns

Rate the bottle the morning after. It remembers so you don't have to.

Fair questions

Questions, answered before the wine arrives.

Will it read the wine list at my restaurant?

Photograph it, as many pages as it runs to, or import a photo or the PDF the restaurant emailed you. Dim rooms, long lists and German-French hybrids all read fine. Handwriting is between you and the waiter.

What happens to the photos?

They never leave your phone. Apple's on-device text recognition reads the list, and only the text it finds — wine names, producers, prices — goes to our server to pick a bottle.

Where does my taste profile live?

On your phone, and nowhere else. There's no account and no sign-in. Your profile travels with each request so the sommelier model can recommend a bottle, and our server stores nothing once it has answered. The details, down to what our AI provider retains, are in the privacy policy.

What if nothing on the list suits me?

It says so. You get the reason, the closest honest pick and how far over budget it sits, then the choice to take it or raise the budget. It won't dress up a bad match as a good one.

What does it cost?

Nothing while the beta runs. Wine still not included.

Is there an Android version?

No. Pourly is an iPhone app. During the beta it goes out through Apple's TestFlight — leave your email and your invite arrives with one of the small batches.

Pourly's palate card: The Burgundy Bilingual — fluent in oak and flint. Meursault when the plate is rich, Chablis when it isn't, and you call this consistency. Its whites map shows two stated preferences and two dots learned from rated bottles, one rich, one mineral.

Pourly's Profile screen: The Burgundy Bilingual, whites rich or lean by the meal, then the whites map in full with its stated and learned dots and the reds map stacked below it with two learned dots. Whites, reds and bubbles each have a map of their own.

A palate, not a black box

It learns your taste. Unlike your dinner companions.

Describe what you like once, in plain words — "oaky Meursault but also lean Chablis, and if you show me an orange wine I'm leaving." Every rating after that nudges your profile, and Pourly shows you exactly what it learned, with an undo on every lesson. Whites, reds and bubbles each get a map of their own; a Barolo is not judged on Chablis axes. Your hard rules are absolute: filtered, never merely down-ranked.
